Was this hand held at 1/30s? It looks a bit blurry to me.
In the first shot, it feels like the trees in bottom right corner are blocking the view. I think you can crop below that arch shaped structure in both the pictures.
Also, I feel like you could recover some of the highlights here. Like in the first shot, I can not read the sign on the left building.

Have a great new year!

Perhaps the tripod or support you used was being affected by vibration or wind, but it's a nice scene.
It appears to me overdone in the sky with blues but particularly the magentas (in #2), and the roads underprocessed (left bland and poor in contrast. I'd start from the beginning and use selective colour to boost the blues only slightly, but focus more on the reds (boost!), greens (add cyan and take away some magenta) and yellows (add some magenta, take away cyan and boost yellows!), then go ahead with levels and curves as appropriate. See how you go.

thanks for the help Guys..yes Id agree they look mis-focused a Tad not so much in the raw files,,but the Jpeg is worse

...Tripod mounted using remote release, i was bracketing 5 shots , and the top one was at 1.7 + EV and exposure was 30 sec..not 1/30 as I put up..... might be a bit of tripod shake { cheap arse tripod} or Mirror slap?...does the mirror return every time when bracketing ?

still you learn by your mistakes...it will give me a excuse to go again { not that I need one} ..LOL

it was the end of 40 degree day...loads of people about...No roos though sparkle...but in the park just behind that spot.. there's 100's

Compositionally I like the first one. I doubt there is anything of interest behind the foreground trees and I kind of like them.

The second seems out of balance with the buildings on the left and...empty sky on the right. The shoreline does not really factor in.

I gave this another shot last night...gee its nice getting and and meeting people..

anyway I tried to correct the slight blur by doing a few captures with MLU...but they still needed a slight sharpen..the Jpeg compresion doesnt do it any favours either..

funny thing is though..when viewed at normal pespective the imges looks soft in PS. but when 100 crops are made..they looks sharp.. I have a real crappy tripod...I wonder if thats the problem. shutter was open for 4 secs on this one

any way apart from all of that I took on board the over exposure comments..also WB was set at daylight..the best WB result to my eye was cloudy...heres the result....

comment if you would like....its the way Im learning..

I would go for more contrast in color, in this case, blue and yellow may work better than magenta/yellow variant. Here a small demo file (crunched down to 50k-out of quota space)

In either perspective my preference would be to cut out the trees in the left bottom of each.
The water in the second indicates the milieu more accurately.
Try a remote release or timed release in case the act of pushing the button causes the camera shake.

yeah did use a remote release..and waited a good 4-6 secs before hitting shutter release..just so any mirror vibration would have settled down

Don't know exactly what you mean by that but jpg artifact in the sky (and overall image) is due to the low-resolution of the copy.

First shot is unbalanced and bad coloured. Second one is really nice shot. Nice composition and bearable colour-lighting.

I am not crazy about the color of the sky for some reason (just personal preference though, I think), but I do really like the foreground of light trails in the maze of roads on both.
