Agree. Bird flying into frame so lots of space on the left is appropriate. Excellent.

I like how the bird has room to fly into the frame, as already mentioned by jbinpg. I also like the odd positioning of the bird's body itself.

Would be absolutely stunning if there was a way to retain the detail of those blown highlights.

Beautiful. Not only is the framing great, the bird's contrast jump & out of focus background gives a great sense of 3D.

Imagine the photo with the background in focus! Ug.

Shooting with a K-5 for the past couple of months, I have a hard time believing the highlights are blown since its sensor should be able to reproduce the given luminance with lots of headroom to spare. I think we are just seeing very white feathers. We would need to see the histogram to be sure.

Here is the histogram. I'm not quite sure what to make of it. It looks to me as though there may be very minimal blown highlights? If anyone has a moment to help me interpret it, I would appreciate it.
