I love the colors. I was just in Cambodia last fall and loved it. Your picture brings back good memories. However, I wonder if it would be more effective if you had gotten in tighter on the child/ren in the boat, OR backed out and showed more of the boat. I guess maybe it feels a bit crowded and/or vague, subject-wise.

Still, I do like it.

Those are my thoughts. I may be way off base, so if you disagree with my feedback, that's perfectly fine.

NewportPreacher, Thank you for taking the time, your honest critique is very much appreciated. This picture was also taken last fall; I'm just now sorting through them.

I'd love to hear from more thoughts: good, bad, or uninspired. You're not going to hurt any feelings here.

Scott, I see this as a travel snapshot, one to keep for that purpose, but doesn't have the impact it could have - photos should have a bold subject, a non-distracting background and nothing else.

This image has distracting elements on the boat, and the child peering out from the side draws attention as a potential subject matter but is small and ineffectual. I'm not necessarily saying the child should be zoomed into as this would lose the overall scene, but it's clear that the photo as is doesn't depict the story of these boat people in this perspective.
