Tower in the sunset
Lens: Sigma 17-70mm Camera: Pentax K-x Photo Location: Hungary ISO: 400 Shutter Speed: >6s Aperture: F9.5

I tried to capture only the form of the tree and the tower against the sky.

You've certainly done that. The silhouette works here, and the colours nice and brilliant. The issue with the image is more to do with the subject matter - the tree (what I think is the subject here) is obscured greatly by all the surrounding clutter and is the aspect that makes or breaks a silhouette image. A bold, simple and isolated subject for a silhouette makes a better case for an effective image.

Thank you.
In the original picture there is a snowy meadow in the foreground, and the tower and the tree looked smaller. The whole thing (cell phone station) was more isolated.
