Mother Ship
Lens: D FA 100 Camera: K7 Photo Location: Belle Isle ISO: 100 Shutter Speed: 1/6s Aperture: F11

I've been trying to get back on my game after a long slump.
Too much time in P&R. But hey' spring is in the air.
Not sure if you folks like this kind of thing.
Unusual shots of flowers get harder as I go along.

Interesting looking shot..
Well focused on the center, I like the apparent backlighting and the glow effect it gives. The only thing that bugs me about it, and it may just be due to the resolution of the photo, is the rather abrupt changes in the purples leading away from the center on the petals (may also be the way the flower naturally is, I don't know). Also (ok, two things), the upper left corner of the photo is a little distracting. Still though, a good effort.

Where in Detroit did you find that?

Maybe I should get away from looking for photo ops in Del Ray area a little more often...

It really looks like an alien ship.
Nice sharpness in the middle that draws my eyes in to it, and lovely colors. The only thing I find a bit distracting is the light area in the left upper corner. Just a thought, but try cropping that part.

It's crisp sharp of a pretty flower, and I'll give my 2c worth:
The white balance is slightly bothering to me - appears as if it's skewed a little towards the blues and magentas a little too much. There is also the concomitant slight underexposure, and thus dullness in contrast which is apparent over the image in total. What I could suggest here is a pass of levels to make the whites more brilliant (and white), boost the colours and perhaps run a pass of curves to further make bold the image contrast. The image may also benefit from a slight boost in colours using a tool like selective color, which can help to richen the magentas if the white balance adjustment takes the impact out of the magenta colour scheme in the image.

Overall a very workable flower shot.

Thanks for all the comments.......
Ash? You're right, I just need to figure out layers in photoshop.
All PP was done in Lightroom.

No worries, though my suggestions above do not require the use of layers - just global treatments of levels and curves (or their equivalent) and a slight colour adjustment. Anyways, good job.
