Macro Pink flowers

One of my first attempts at macro:

Not sure what species of flowers it is actually. Apple blossoms?

I personally think sharpness and DOF-wise they are alright, at least not terrible. Composition wise #1 is OK for a bland "let us just fill the frame" picture, but lacks a special something. #2 is slightly more interesting but would be better if one of the blossoms had opened up a bit more. Both need some ladybugs or something to make them into pictures somebody might be interested to see (or even comment on here).

Nice pictures in those blogs, thanks, smf.

Just wanted to also note that these were done using an ordinary 50mm f/2 Pentax-M lens using macro extension rings. So the overall "setup" can probably be obtained for around $25 (not counting the camera body).
