Jumping spider
Lens: FA77 f/1.8 Limited with K series 28mm f/3.5 reverse mounted Camera: K7 Photo Location: Adelaide ISO: 100 Shutter Speed: 1/180s Aperture: F16 

The reason the spider appears to be floating is because I have it on a sheet of thick glass, at those magnifications even the finest papers produce a distracting background so to reduce this effect I chose to elevate the subject above the paper. Main light was with an AF540 in a 40" softbox though In retrospect, I should dodge the highlights in the eyes to reduce the annoying pattern that is visible and I should have had an auxiliary light behind the subject to bring out the texture in the subject.

I didn't bother DOF stacking with this image.

here is a finalised edit of the image, I used a different image to produce this result with all image corrections applied - none of this would have been possible without my Wacom intuos 4 Graphics tablet...
