Senior Portrait
Camera: K7

Some family friends asked if I could take some senior portraits of their son for his graduation. I gave it my best shot, having never done them before. What do you think? I tried to give them some edge to match his personality. To be honest, I didnt have to pose him at all, he was a natural. (not going to make it any easier for the next person who wants them lol)

I'm no pro and this is just my opinion, but the selective color ones drew my eyes to the guitar and cello(?) first instead of him. But photo #3 really struck my eye as something very unique and creative. Thanks for sharing!

All good, and indeed #4's PP does attract undue attention to the cello, but #5's more subtle result works well.
Excellent results IMO, and with a touch more contrast these would be great.

See, I always feel like I go overboard on the contrast, so I tried to tone it back a bit lol.
Thanks all, what else can be improved?

No. 3 is very good. The composition and the tones come together perfectly.

I think that you did a nice job here. I think that your lighting is very nice and your post processing works for me too. Posing, I think is a learned skill, so don't let that discourage you. The more you do, the easier it will be. I've seen work by pros and the posing sometimes isn't that great. A lot depends on the subject and their ease with the camera. Good job.

Great pictures. Can anyone explain how to achieve the effect that OP uses in pictures 3, 5 & 6?

Is that done post processing?

#2 is the same problem I have... does it work to cut off the hand...

(the rest are fine, location of the sparkle in the eye is really the only thing I notice... it is different... good/bad)

but since you want comments... did you consider a horizontal so you could see waist up?

PS #1 is great head shot... I could see it in a program for a working musician on broadway...
