Indeed PP has much utility here, but first and foremost get focus right, then have the light to work to your advantage to get the most flattering result you can for your portraits - harsh sunlight poses a number of problems both for the subject and the photographer. But otherwise, keep at it.

thanks ASH.....i will keep at it. A question ?????...before I try, what would be the up and the downsides of using a 2x converter with a 1.7...50mm prime ? As I say....its just a thought as yet and I would welcome any advice.
