I think the timing of the shot was excellent, really showing the concentration in her face. The solid white BG on 'her' left side I find a little distracting.

Mychael, thank you for attention. Since it was late afternoon (summer) the sun was quite low and because there are elements that just are not desirable. Space (a conservatory) with lots of glass did not leave much choice for BG. Someone would be "played with" in LR or PS, but this is not my concept.
regards

yes, a very nice shot. Perfect timimg. Just a shame they didn't put a black background for you.

Macario thanks for the attention and advice regarding the background. If you have read a few of my comments, you might notice that I do not like to use the services that we provide CS5. To simply say, "I'm an old school photographer"! For me personally, the photos document the moment, which impresses me. Imaging trying to keep the "original RAW format."
How would any misunderstanding, in principle, I support the new technology, though still alive, and I have access to "dark chamber".
Regards Velja

What I ment was, too bad that the background wasn't dark on location. I personally would also not alter it in photoshop. (too traditional for that too)

I would pull the clarity slider a little bit on the raw; the harsh light causes more shadows in the lady's face than she'd likely see in the mirror. (see her upper right cheek vs upper left cheek). NO other processing necessary.
