Interesting pictures from the history of the light bulb.
It would be intersting to record what kind of light bulb each is. They do not look like recent designs.

I'll have to check, but im pretty sure they are just basic 60watt bulbs. They're in my ceiling fan.

Then that is very interesting because of the differnet capture of the glwing coils and reflections from the glass surface of the bulb. The impression I had had was they they were samples of a variety of makers with differnet kinds of filiament. Interessting photographic work to capture these differences.

It's actually the very same light bulb. I just shot them from different angles.

I'm not having to type on my phone anymore, so I can elaborate a little bit more on what I was trying to do on each of these 3 shots.

The first one I was trying to capture just a hint of the fan design in the background, but with the main focus on the light fixture itself and the lightbulb. I tried to get the filaments to be more in focus, like in pictures 2 and 3, but whenever I would adjust the F-stop in an effort to do that, the rest of the picture became too dark and you couldn't see the fan at all, and the light fixture started to be a little too washed out for my taste. If anyone has any suggestions of a way I could possibly get the filaments to be more focused like in #2 or #3, while still keeping the fan and light fixtures intact, I would love to hear your suggestions!

The second one is from the same angle and focal length as the first one, but I decreased the camera-subject distance. It was kind of a strange shot... I honestly just held the camera up to the light bulb and took a shot with an ISO/shutter speed/F stop i thought would work. At first it was a little too bright, bumped up the F stop just a bit more came out with what you see there.

The third one I actually got up on a chair to get closer, and was still using the same focal length as the other 2 pictures (50mm), but changed the angle. It was more from the bottom of the bulb looking directly into the lamp, rather than a side angle.

in your shoes i would have simply put an aditional light on the fan or deflected some light its way.
nice skin prints on the second.

You mean a light on the fan for the first picture? I thought about that.. I didn't have any extra hands at the time to hold a flashlight and I don't have any flashes of my own except for the one on the camera. I'll see what I can do if I can find another set of hands though! Thanks for the suggestion!
