I haven't posted on PF for quite some time for reasons that I'm not going to drag up but When I see this picture and read some of the comments I feel the need to add my humble opinion.
What many folks don't realize is that there is a big difference between the qualities of artisically good photography and technically good photography. In a perfect world the two will be present in the image but his doesn't happen as often as we'd hope.
As an example none of the pictures that I have had accepted to galleries or shows or even show winners have ever been accepted by Pentax Photo Gallery and the converse of this is also true . Those technically good pics that PPG accepted were poorly recieved in the art community.
I like the direction you took with this shot. It's not great but your eye was working! If it was mine , I'd crop the top til it was square , leave it in color and turn up the contrast as others have recomended. If you had shot at sundown to add some gold color to the sand and possibly put a
small leaf or sea shell in the pic to add some color contrst it would be better.
