This is x-posted in the Post your Photos section with another thread I started, but I thought I'd post this one here for a bit of critique. I want to start doing portraits more often and was looking for a bit of guidance on them. Any suggestions? This wasn't a posed model. It's my girlfriends little brother, actually, and I just said "Hey, Alec!" and he looked up as I took the picture. Definitely a candid shot. But other than posing (although I'm not opposed to hearing suggestions on different poses and whatnot), any suggestions? Lighting? ISO/shutter/aperture? Composition? PP?
I decided to go with B&W since the object on his right was bright red and sort of distracting, and there wasn't all that much color variance to the picture.
