Cars in the Woods
Lens: 18-55 Pentax Camera: K10D

So I suppose the only way to get better is one to practice, and two is let others help. Correct exposure is one I am trying to get better at, as well as, composition. These photos where tough for me since it was a sunny day and I was in the woods. Lots of sunny and shady spots mixed all into one. Out of the 50 or so photos I took these two are what I consider the best of the bunch. I adjusted levels in photoshop and cropped.

I like the cropping.

You might try increasing the contrast a bit, especially in the second photo.

Also, in the second photo, two hairlike objects are at lower left.

I think I would have been tempted to try for an aperture offering greater depth of focus for the first photo. That might have achieved even sharper focus of the Chevy emblem. (You might try working on that with Nik Software, which offers trial periods via its website.)

I understand that lugging a tripod through the woods can be uncomfortable. But you might want to consider it if you make a return trip.

Welcome to the forum, best wishes, and I'd enjoy seeing more of your work.

This brings up two very good points for me. One is I have possibly the dirtiest sensor on Pentax Forums and two is I get so focused on certain aspects (ie. cropping and exposure) that I overlook other items that detract from the picture.

I will give this a try. The cars are within walking distance of my house so I have the opportunity to try photos over and over. I'll also take my tripod along. I see that in the first photo my aperture was only 5.6. I will try using a smaller one and a longer exposure.

Thank you for the input.

I spent some more time with them in photoshop. I took care of my dirty sensor problem with the clone stamp. I adjusted quite a few other things as well. Are these more well rounded photos?
