Concert Photography
Lens: DA* 50-135 Camera: K-5 Photo Location: Døgnvill Vinter Festival ISO: 1000 Shutter Speed: 1/150s Aperture: F4

My first concert shoot. For this guy, roughly 25 photographers were cramped together in virtually the same space, i'm sure we could've all fitted inside a Morris Mini. The stage were approximately 2 meters high, and the photopit were directly infront of it with nothing to stand on. The photo is shot handheld with one hand.

EDIT: 20 pictures from the festival here :Dognvill Vinter Festival 2012

well done, i've been in a couple of pits like that, big challenge the one plus being anyone with that packed a pit has great light to shoot in (as is obvious from the exif wow lots of light)

Thanks!
It was good lightning, especially for Elton John. He`s not the tallest person in the world, and he was also, of course, sitting behind a piano, so there weren`t too many angles from which too shoot him from. In retrospect i realise i should`ve upped the shutterspeed a couple of notches; holding the camera in one hand and AFìng via liveview were not exactly ideal, or anything i`ve ever done before, but it was a great learning experience!

I shoot manual focus a lot but in a pit like that I shoot widish AF (with my 24-70 usually at 24-50) i almost never live view focus, either rough framing with it wide, or using the VF. I usually have a second camera with a tele for stage portraits (like a 200 or sometimes smaller depending on how far the pit is from the stage - that i always use the VF)
given that most club shows i have to shoot 1/60th and 2,8 or faster at 16-3200 shooting something like this is generally a joy

the 50-135 is probably the perfect lens for this (I just don't own one )

Very nice shot. I always thought EJ was a little out there on the purple fringe :-)

Thank you
Do you guys feel i should've tried to remove the purple and blueish tints in PP? I kinda thought that i'd try to keep the colors and the feel as close to how it was in reality as possible, but sometimes those purple and blue spots look weird.

I would always leave the colour. it's part of the show. just shoot in tungsten mode (at least if they are conventional stage lights which are tungsten) whatever colour you get is what was used by the lighting guy
