Boats
Lens: Pentax DA 18-55 WR Camera: Pentax K-5 Photo Location: Hampton Court 

Please critique! Also, close crop (top) or a bit further out (bottom)? I think the close crop shows off the colours a bit more.

I like the second one best. The motorboats in the back are a more prominent feature in the first cropped one and don't add anything to the photo.

Tried a different photo and cropped so the boats fill the image.

Sorry, I still like the second one best. The boats in the background don't add anything but they don't bother me as much as in the first one but without any kind of backdrop the depth in the photo is compromised with a rather dull crop as a result in the third one. But, hey! It is only one opinion and I could be wrong. Thanks for responding!

Actually I agree with you, the last crop takes something away from the image and leaves it looking dull. Crop 2 has more balance and draws my eye better than 1.
