dead tree, not the best lighting...but i tried to work it out through PP...a bit. Comments or help appreciated...

I'm no expert but I suggest you crop the bottom off, eliminating the lighter field up to the darker line of trees. The texture of the trunk is interesting, but the field isn't - and the light area attracts the eye from the more interesting textures and shapes of the tree.

Yes, I had the same feel as you, Jford. Perhaps the OP could darken the bottom part to match the top?
