Nature Silhouette

Two bird silhouette shots, for your critique. Suggestions for improvement greatly appreciated!

Darrell, I like the photos. Both do a nice job with the bird. If these were mine, I'd crop them a bit tighter.

On the first, the discontinuous branches framing the image are a bit odd. I'd crop both the vertical branches out.

On the second, the claw shaped branch is the most eye catching element in the image. I'd certainly crop that. The curving branch on the bottom left leads the eye out of the frame. I'd crop that side to the more vertical branch. I might also consider lightening the sky to up the contrast, though the way it is now does lend a bit of moodiness to the photo, and works as is.
