First go at HDR
Lens: DA 16-45mm Camera: K-r Photo Location: Merrijig, Vic, Australia ISO: 200 Aperture: F8

Here is my first go at doing an HDR image using photomatix. I've tried using photoshop CS5 a few times but haven't been able to get anything that I'm at all happy with, but photomatix seems to make it much easier to create a realistic looking image.
Let me know what you think and where it can be improved.

Excellent. The HDR is very subtle and unless I were to read about it, I might have not noticed it all together.

Cheers Boris. That's pretty much what I was going for, I'm not a fan of the surreal look really, I just want to get the image looking more like I was seeing.

I like it as is.
I think you could push the HDR further and get very good results.
I think about an inch cropped off the top works well.
Dunno if its better or worse but I'd have the rock more into the frame.

Just in case you missed it you may enjoy... https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/mini-challenges-games-photo-stories/18242...otos-here.html

First go? A home-run strait away! I love it. The HDR is sure subtle enough. I myself always find it hard not to get carried away with HDR.

I think this is very tasteful and correct use of HDR. Well-done!

Hi - I liked the way your highlights turned out. There is nice detail in the grassy area and even some sun rays. For my taste, I would love to see some more shadow detail in the hills. The ultimate purpose of HDR is to expand the dynamic range to illuminate the extremes. Sometimes putting an image such as this back into Photoshop and enhance with light and shadow filtering. Good image to work with and play around. Have fun with it.
