An initial foray into architecture B&W
Lens: 70mm Ltd Camera: K-5 Photo Location: London ISO: 80 Shutter Speed: 1/750s Aperture: F8

The Shard Building, London

I actually don't particularly like this building but I think that the scaffolding etc they have on it while it's being finished off makes it more interesting. I don't have much experience of this kind of photography or B&W conversion (I just use the sliders in LIghtroom), so any comments, critiques would be much appreciated.

I very much like the way you got at the subject, monk. Very dramatic!

Thanks, drama was what I was going for. Although I was hoping for Imperial Battle Cruiser

Its a good shot, very dramatic, but maybe a tad too much white cloud in right side of the image. But making a building seem interesting is pretty hard and you did a good job, especially in the processing.

Ah yes, now you say it, I totally agree that it would be better with less white cloud to the right. Thank you for the nugget.

I like the imperial battle ship reference. I reckon if you were to piss the sky off, add some stars, you'd nearly be there

Hi
I like the placement and framing here. The scaffolding adds some extra extra interest. I think the amount of clouds is just right and I like the placement. They help define the edges of the building and help delineate the edges. I do find the image too dark overall. The darks are blocked up and lack detail. Drag the darks and shadows sliders to the right.
Regards
Greg

Agreed, it's a bit too dark/underexposed.

At the risk of going too far the other way, what about this?

I prefer the original, but I do like being able to see more detail in the scaffold towards the bottom of the frame... This version also lacks some of the contrast-derived drama of the first.
