Puppy at the Park
Lens: F 50mm f1.7 Camera: K5 ISO: 100 Shutter Speed: 1/500s Aperture: F2.8

Hi there, second (?) post on the forum and I'd like to know what others think of this photo. I'm relatively new to photography as I just picked up my K5 6 months ago. What would you have done different? What could I have done different?

The crop is a bit awkward with the missing ear.

Personally, I would of liked seeing the whole head in focus.

S/he is cute! Good pose, looking right into the camera is great, light in the eyes, good out-of-focus background that doesn't distract. I do find the out-of-focus nose a bit distracting though. At f2.8 you have really shallow depth of field. I would try it with a smaller aperture & get the dog's nose at least a little more in focus.

The nose is sharp enough for me.
Nice work!
The partially missing ear at right is quite noticeable in the icon photo when various threads in the forum are seen, but I have no problem with it in the large version.
And, in case I haven't previously offered best wishes and said welcome to the forum, I do so now.

I would have cropped a little so the little bit of the dog's right ear does not show, if that's possible. Otherwise I love the photo. The tack sharp eyes and the OOF DOF front and back are great.

Hi

I would like to second all previous comments and add:

Part of the fur has blown highlights, which can be avoided by lowering EV and then lighten up the image a bit in PP.

Greetings
