The blown highlights in the sky are distracting from an otherwise nicely composed image. That's a problem I find myself trying to solve all the time.

Personally, I think B&W works better. It reminds me of my childhood . . . .

Blown skies are blown out of proportion too often. Before digital, no one cared if the sky went white in a transparency. If you went back and criticized blown out skies in every photo, you'd have a lot of classic and iconic photos taken by well known photographers that would be criticized. I wouldn't get too hung up on it.
