That's a beautiful baby.

I am thinking that you cropped this tightly to convey intimacy. I feel it is too claustrophobic. Their positioning within the frame seems awkward as well. Showing the mother's eyes would convey deeper emotion. While I like the lighting, the toning seems a little off, especially for showing newborns--it casts the baby in what comes close to a slightly unhealthy hue. That's easy to fix.

Thanks for posting this lovely photograph.
A few thoughts:
• Consider eliminating or toning down the off-white area behind and to the left of the mother's head.
• The title is thought-provoking, as the baby is in the foreground and in acceptable focus.
• I'm not bothered by the toning, cropping or positioning in the frame.
I hope to see more of your photographs. And best wishes to the young family.

Thanks for the suggestions. Any suggestions for removing the white strip behind the head? I tried cloning it out but it reveled a texture difference that was visible. I then tried dodging it and that didnt work either... i guess i need some practice. Any guidance would be great. I am using Sagelight and occasionally ps elements 9.

Thanks
