January Creek
Lens: 18-250WR Camera: K-5 Photo Location: Near Mt. Rainier NP ISO: 80 Shutter Speed: Above 6s

Here's a couple I took the other day, first shoot for the new year.

I didn't see the stick in the creek (which I find distracting), and I was hoping for a bit more snow...Processed in LR4.

I appreciate any feedback from the trained eyes here! Thank you in advance!

I definitely like the mood and composition in #3 but I'd like to see a reduction in the wide angle effect. When I get that in Aperture, I move over to PS Elements to straighten things a bit. Don't know what PP you have available though.

Jac,

The shot was at 18mm and processed through DXO Optics Pro to remove any distortion. I believe the effect is due to the terrain I was shooting; it was in a "bowl", enhancing the effect. I think it's what drew me to the scene to begin with! Thanks for your input!

Yah I don't think there is a problem with your wide angle distortion in #3 at all. I can see the natural bowl shape here. Good shots.

I like the composition on the woods shot, and don't see any distortion problem. The colors don't look right to me though--it looks too bluish to me I think, and almost cartoony, like an overprocessed HDR.

On the creek shots, the snow looks blown out to me. At first I didn't recognize it as snow. Can you get some detail in that area?

Good shots though, and I particularly like the composition on the woods shot.

I might have to head out to Rainier myself...
