I think its a really great shot. How did you get both the stones in the puddle and the power plant so sharp?
Great shot, can't really complain, but since you posted it in the critique section.. One thing you could have done to improve the photo further is to position the stones in the puddle a little more, so they don't take the focus away from the reflection and so they fill up the empty space in the corners.

I think the photo is as close to the perfection as you can get.
Hard to fault anything ... everything is in perfect place and colors are very well balanced - I would not change anything!

Well done!!

The picture is quite evocative. I love the architectural lines and wheather-worn concrete. When the viewer slowly makes sense of what is shown it can bring up an emotional response, which is the mark of a good picture.

However I find the photo lacks 'punch'. I suggest accentuating contrast, or saturation, or both to give it a more vivid look.

The bottom half serves to mark the transition between the reflection of the sky and the wet concrete ground. It is a pity the sky is so white, it would have worked better with darker skies. You could try making the space between clouds darker (is that called 'burn'?) to accentuate the effect.

Not sure the apparent HDR treatment was needed here. Might have been an even more spectacular photo without it.

Agree with this, though it is hard to say without seeing the original.

Also, as much interest as there is in the top 1/3 of the frame, the bottom 1/3 is pretty much a throwaway. I wonder what a landscape oriented shot with more of the plant in frame would have looked like.

I like the grunge feel given by the HDR (I think) processing.
It really highlights the sense of abandonment given that it is an old nuclear plant.
Really like the composition. Makes the viewer ponder.

Thanks for all the feedback! I've attached the non-HDR version for comparison.

I think that's a combination of shooting f/8 and the HDR effects sharpening it up a bit. The stones in the foreground are not sharp, but the more distance ones are.

I can see what you mean here. I might look at a square crop which I think is interesting.

I'll play with it some in the next few days and consider some of the other suggestions, like burning the clouds. Thanks again!

I would crop off some of the bottom, maybe 1/2 way or so to the bigger rock. It's a long photo and there is just too much plain foreground.

I like this a lot, even the darker part of the buildings reflection is kind of broken up by the concrete floor adds to the derelict nature of this place.

Well seen and taken.
