Play room project
Lens: Tamron 28-75 Camera: K5

I haven't shot in a while cause I'm very much a fair weather shooter, so I gave myself a little project. I wanted some pics up in my daughters play room that were kid like but had meaning. Since I drum a bit the animal and cymbal background represents me. My daughter loves cookie monster so that one represents her, and the hello kitty and pink background represents my wife who likes anything girly and pink. Anyway c&c is always welcome, I think it works as a series.

Great fun set-ups! They look even better in the frames. I love them just the way they are.

I think those are great!! Very sharp with great bokeh and colors. They look wonderful framed and they really pop on that wall. Well done and an inspiring idea for a playroom.

Keep on shooting! Winter is one of my favorite times to photograph and snowy images tend to sell well for me.

Photo Inspiration

I too have needed some inspiration and went looking for some on the Forum - found yours and Tessfully's. She has one gorgeous photo blog! I don't have her address (I commented but haven't received a reply yet). Most of the photos are close-ups of local Canadian fauna, a visiting bird, and fauna trapped in ice sitting in her sink, sized for viewing (I find that often photos, especially close-ups on the Forum are too large for viewing on a computer. I really "got it" when I saw your photos smaller in context with the mat and frame - makes for an excellent presentation, in the vein of Tessfully's blog). Very inspiring to know it is possible to use seemingly ordinary subjects and achieve such beautiful results.

Your photos have really inspired me - that's what I love about the Forum. They remind me of the beautiful contest story submission for the K-30 camera, the female Lens finding her Prince Charming lens mate. In case you didn't see it the photo story was portrayed using "sets" (vignettes like yours), photo lenses and cameras portraying the characters. They were arranged in charming ways with a black and white print of castles for a backdrop. It fascinated me because I like interior design and set design. Seeing your framed set encourages me to try some toys to make a vignette. I thought you might like to see a shallow vignette I did last summer that I need to expand on, maybe using organics depicting the other seasons.

I like 'em, the big question that we should all be asking, does your daughter like 'em?

Brilliant, I love them. Did you buy a bit of fake turf and do these indoors or were they outdoor shots? I really like the lighting on them, how was that done?
