Selective color, in my opinion, is something that works very rarely. I like the photo but I don't think it works here.

I like the perspective of this shot. Just different enough. The selective color thing, OTOH, is not an improvement over either a B&W or color version of this or most shots. Selective saturation is an affectation. It is passe'. There are also a lot of blown skypoints in the background--tough one to get right.

This isn't PEG standard for me. The colour popping does strike me as a bit gimmicky. It's an interesting perspective and so I don't think it needs a gimmick. I like the composition, the arrangement of the flowers on the diagonal complements the vertical elements well. Colour would be my choice, I think the pink against the silver birch and a blue sky would make for a very nice combination. But wrong sky here I think, it looks too dead with blown highlights resulting. I like the shallow depth of field but I'm not convinced by the focal point as I think the most attention grabbing bloom to my eye, the one facing the viewer, is not in focus. Even with an optimal presentation of this scene I think it would be probably regarded as a little routine for the PEG, that's not to say it wouldn't make a very nice picture though.

Thanks for the critiques. I wanted to keep the bark below the blooms B&W bec I like the texture of the bark, but if the blooms are also B& W, you can't really distinguish them from the upper part of the tree, which is why I though to color & highlight them. Wasn't trying to be kitchzy, but I guess that's what it is.
I really like the photo, though and will prob print it for myself.
