Very nice. (I'm guessing that you have actually taken more than 2 photos, but this is your second on the site.) I think this has a nice "natural" feel to it. The little wavelet just coming in leads the eye along and in a curve back to the sun set. Good balance. I know nothing about photography but I know what I like. The rails etc on the left are a bit of a distraction once you notice them, but we have to live with that kind of thing. I like to get my nature shots with no man-made stuff in the shot, but you can't waste a good shot just because something like that intrudes.

It's a nice shot; I like it. I'd like it more if the horizon was level.

I would either crop out the bottom and left side dark areas or lighten then up so we can see the content. Otherwise nice colors.

That's the difference when you are familiar with a location. I have several similar shots of Siwash Rock and the Stanley Park Seawall and I know the fence is there so I subconsciously fill it in without lifting the exposure. Very nice image.

I like it. Pretty good composition (yes, the horizon is a teeny bit tilted), really nice colour, good timing to be there for those cool clouds... I would be happy to have got this shot. Everyone's 'eye' is different; I wouldn't lighten or crop the dark bits. I think the point is the colour in the sky & water, & you want the almost-silhouetted area to frame it.
Keep shooting!

Hi

The eye can see it but the camera can't (may be one day) but the shadow sides are too dark and therefore dominate the image by virtue of its overwhelming appearance. In real life there would have been enough light to see more of the detail in the rocks and foreground. But software like Nik Viveza can come to the rescue.

Greetings

In this case I prefer the as presented version, I don't mind the darker area and I consider it as an appropriate amount of negative space for the photo. I don't need to see detail in every corner of this shot it is not needed.. Great photo by the way.

^ Agree. Lightened version looks washed out. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. But then, I am not a fan of HDR anyway.

I like both images, but in realilty the rock tower should be in shadow since the sun is setting on the other side. So it makes more sense. If making sense is important.

You are quite right the tall rock with the tree on top could be a bit darker at the shadow side but in my defense I only did a very quick once over during traveling on my not so good laptop. I would be a bit more thorough using my big beast at home and of course I would work with a Raw file then.

Thanks for taking the time to commend.

Greetings

I prefer your original. You could crop a little of the bottom but it's not essential. You've taken a good picture.
