Advice on processing a photo

Good morning,

I want to ask for your opinion on how to edit a photo.

Should I make it darker, lighter, or black and white? The black and white version is after the first version (the darker colored one).

Thank you!

It's really all about personal preference, as the first few replies to this thread have just demonstrated.

Go with what you like, be your own image maker.

The black and white looks like a drawing. Beautiful! Consider bringing out more of the black, especially the wall behind the cat, inorder to accentuate the sleeping cat. Photo #2 had just the right amount of darkness, to highlight the cat.

All three are very good. In order, I prefer 1, 3 then 2.
Best wishes!

Good day,

Thank you all for the responses. I received another version (edited by somebody else) , on how it should look. It has a different cropping and a few other tweaks. All in all, I like the black and white (I do love black and white photos) , but I must end up getting more detail out of the cat.

Thank you again for the responses!

I'd suggest trying a B&W with more in the mid tones and a bit less local contrast

Agreed. Just don't write something 'cute' across it and post it on Facebook!
