Chirp Chirp....it's a cricket alright. Picture is OK if you're into bug pictures. I would have picked a more interesting bug for critique on a photo forum but I'm sure your son loves it. It's not a bad picture just not very interesting.

That was pretty big print.
Ok, bugs can be fun to photograph. I have some cool shots of grasshoppers on yarrow plants.
It's a nice snapshot for your son. If you are aiming for more 'pro' style bug photos, I would recommend choosing a natural background. The lines of the building are distracting. So is the finger. If the cricket were in a more natural environment it would improve your shot.
Also, it's not quite sharp.
