Do you still have access to the non-stacked images?

To me, it looks as if you moved the camera while still taking a picture.

That would be cool. Didn't notice it though. Maybe there is a new use for DSLR.

steve1307:

Nope. I wouldn't remember it though.

PJ1:

Yeah I reckon it does have to be something to do with the algorithm. The program is really designed for stacking astrophotography shots. There was a breeze that night.

Old Man:

The lights is the village I live in. It wasn't all that bright when I was shooting although it seems to show up more when edited. It was pitch black. You would trip over without a torch! No the camera wasn't set for multiple exposure.

mikeSF:

Hi, no there was nothing placed in front of the camera. The lens doesn't accept filters either.

wullemaha:

Thanks

Schraubstock:

Ha ha perhaps

mamethot:

Ha ha I wouldn't have that much luck!

Fat Albert:

Thanks

carrrlangas:

'snot snot, Ha ha

bdery:

Yep I still have the originals. The camera didn't move at all. It was on a tripod. I used a IR remote with 3 second delay.

Very cool. Does it happen consistently?
If each of the photos look fine, then you may want to write to the software's authors. I bet they would love to see what their software did.
Software designers "love" having strange bugs pops up and figuring out just why something that messed up occurred. :-)

+1. This is exactly what it looks like in the second before it expands far enough to envelop you.
Cool pic.

Well, it looks to me like what happened was,

You were taking picture in the middle of the woods at 10.30 at night.
At 10.31 you were abducted by aliens for some probing.
At 10.32 your camera took another picture.
At 10.33 the aliens held your camera upside down.
At 10.34 the camera took an upside down picture.
At 10.35 the aliens put your camera back.
At 10.36 the camera took another picture
At 10.37 you were returned, probed and all.
At 10.38 the camera took another shot. You packed up, go home, and realized your watch is 6 minutes behind.

You put the pictures into some software stacking thing, who desperately tried to match the one upside down picture with the rest of them, and finally gave up and did some sort of bend over backwards upside down photo thingy.
