How did I get this photo?

Hi

I had a go at some star trails the other day, but then decided it was getting too late. I had taken around 5 pictures of 2 mins each so decided to stack them anyway using Deep Sky Stacker. This photo is the result:

What happened here? I did take some other photos where I light painted the trees but I'm pretty sure i didn't include those photos by accident. Is it just a case of the software going a bit crazy?

It's pretty clear to me that you were abducted by aliens. They wiped your memory of it, but not the camera's. This picture is proof!

Yeah that was my first thought but didn't want to be the first to say it for fear I was thought of as mad and shunned by society! Ha ha but yeah the picture is a mystery.

A passing soap bubble got caught in the shot perhaps?

Ah yes those mysterious soap bubbles which occur in the middle of woods at 10.30 PM. I have heard of them but not experienced them till now. I can see now this thread is gonna have some interesting suggestions

That's heavy. I'm 88% certain you are seeing a rip in the space time continuum.

Well I'm giving you a +1 for it even though I have no idea how you did it.

I hope the aliens didn't probe you too badly

It certainly makes an interesting "art" shot. You could post it on a paranormal activity forum, then sit back and watch the fun! Seriously though (and you can't you get more serious than aliens?) I wonder if this could be caused by the stacking algorithm. I know roughly how they work and I am wondering how they would handle the trees in the background. If there is a breeze the branches would move in a rhythmical pattern making a wave form. Could that have confused the stacking algorithm so you get a very complex moire-type response? It would be interesting to see if you could replicate it under breezy conditions. (Sorry if I am in too deep!)

It is a cool photo, but I don't know how you did it. You said it was 10:30 pm, but there is an awful lot of light through the trees, maybe some weird lens flare. Did you by any chance set your camera for multiple exposure?
Or you captured a vortex portal for space travel.
If you figure it out let us know.

Very cool effect.
I do see the inverted reflections of trees, so I am guessing a shiny object has been passed in front of the camera??

I bet you finished up owning one of those rare female cameras Pentax produce from time to time and you misfingered the on/off switch..

It is a clear case where the camera said: Sorry, no digital input until I'm turned on.

Greetings

Can it be spiders building webs? Certainly the loger exposure could catch the reflexions
