On a narrow, dark street at Barcelona, he was playing sweet, rich, beutiful jazz music

I shot with k-01 in M mode, fixing aperture and speed, and letting the camera choose ISO..

Not liking the lighting here. Face too dark, arm and hand in the foreground too light. The overall contrast is bad. I may have tried shooting from the opposite side, where that door with all the lines wouldn't be a distraction in the background.

I like the door, the pose, the angle the photo was taken at, the subject, and the low-key black and white. I would however say his face needs some lighting. I might also have used a faster lens to get a narrower depth of field to help isolate the subject more from the door, and perhaps accentuate that more with a vignette in post.

But overall I like the photo.

I agree the lighting is wrong - too much contrast for my liking but it has a certain artistry to it all the same.

I like the lightning for this picture. It gives a feeling of just standing in front of this saxophone player

This was an unprepared photo, I just took it while walking on the old narrow streets of Barcelona downtown.

The light was from old lamplights and I had to use high ISO (12800) so recovering shadows is not possible without adding noise

In the photo I wanted to transmit the beauty of the music, the loneliness of the musician who was playing al,ost for himself....... high contrast and agresive horizontal lines and urban paintings helped me to it
