Eagle Eye Zoanthid
Lens: Sigma 70mm Macro Camera: K-7 Photo Location: In my living room ISO: 400 Shutter Speed: 1/10s Aperture: F5

I got the Sigma 70mm Macro in the mail yesterday and shot this last night. The Shutter speed is actually 1/13s. Hand held with the lens resting against the glass of my aquarium. I'm new to the world of real Macro lenses so I'm looking for advise on how to improve.

Looks very cool!
As you found out the low light required you to open the aperture and also slow down the shutter.
One thing to try is to use a flash to provide more light.
This will let you stop the lens down (for more depth of field) and keep your shutter speed up to stop motion.

What lights are you using? (On the tank) I like how you got the colors correct. Mine usually come out really blue. Although for a reef I'm surprised you had to go down to 1/10 at f5

I'm running 2 250 watt 17K halides with 4 54w t-5's. I usually shoot with aperture priority because I try to control the dof. The camera chose the shutter speed. I wish I had the K-5. The sensor is supposedly much better with higher ISO. But hey, we do what we can with what we have.

I'll shoot mine at f5 tonight and see what it thinks shutter speed should be. I only have t5's but my tanks only 12 inches deep.
