How to tell about focus? I have done the focus correction for this lens in the past.

Download and print some focus charts. A long stretch of newspaper also works as you can see the nearest and farthest areas of print that are in focus. You have to take the picture at just the right angle (45 degrees I think but I forget) to make that work correctly though. You can line up a whole bunch of stuff in an angled line left to right from near to far on a table and focus on the middle object with focus points also.

That picture doesn't seem out of focus but its hard to tell sometimes since there isn't a ton of depth to it. I have heard some zoom lenses will front focus a bit on one end and back focus a bit on the other end of the zoom spectrum, you either have to pick an an average in the middle or send the lens in for calibration which isn't worth it unless its super bad or a really expensive lens.
