Dreaming cat
Lens: Industar 50-2 Camera: Pentax K-01 Photo Location: France, Strasbourg ISO: 200 Shutter Speed: 1/125s

I was walking down the street and noticed a cat in the window, took some quick snaps. I think it wanted to open the window. Took the photo with the Industar 50-2 mounted on the K-01. I posted this on 500px and am not sure why its not liked. Any tips would be appreciated, on post processing and the like. I didn't want to change the WB to warmer because it was a pretty overcast day and I think it fits the mood. More info about the photo and bigger version (if you press M) here.

Beautiful photo but the blue cast is letting it down. The window looking bluish probably would be OK but cat's fur is also looking bluish.

I would also crop it to about 2/3 its current size .

Hello
I like the pose of the cat looking out and up. A few thoughts on what you might change. The WB is quite blue which you want to keep as it was cloudy but I might warm it up a touch. I would straighten the perspective and crop in as I find the bricks distracting. Cropping in would make the subject larger in the frame and place it in a better spot. I might bump up the saturation and sharpness on the cat to make it stand out a bit better. I did an edit to show what I mean and posted it here. alternative edit on right of photo by Na Horuk | Flickr - Photo Sharing!
Just my 2 cents.
Regards
Greg

Love your changes to it! The pose is very cute and well captured. The square bits on the material behind add a nice touch. Personally, I might crop it even more to put the cat a bit more off center to the right, but I really think it looks quite good now.

My crop would almost totally remove the window at right. It's still a good shot though.

Probably further than you want to go but just throw it out as an idea...

Ah, this thread. Thanks, Burzum!

Wildman, yes, the way you treated it looks better - more contrast, better colours, more texture, more powerful crop.. definitely a more modern interpretation. I kind of wanted to keep the photo dreamy, hazy, low contrast. But that is a very good way of processing that photo, thanks for sharing

I understand.
A difficult mood to capture either in camera or PP.
How about a well toned BW?
