I'm not sure about this one, my wife says it's a great abstract shot, and who want's to argue with that! So I'd appreciate your comments.

since when did it become the norm to call technically deficient photos "a great abstract"?

I know I don't have an art degree nor do I have any formal education in photo theory, but i'm sorry, poorly exposed and motion blue does not make an abstract, it makes it a poorly taken image UNLESS such was carefully calculated and planned to signify some concept. (and yes I do understand high key and low key concepts but this doesn't qualify for me)

and maybe even then i'd still think it's a poor image. like the 4 million dollar rhein river picture.

I personally would not deem this image worthy of taking up my hard drive space, but i'm certain many others will agree with your wife and vehemently disagree with me.

Its over exposed, out of focus and has CA. I dont want to seem rude or anything but I am going to have to agree with nomadkng.

Yeah, sorry I'd have to agree with the other two. Although I can see what your wife's getting at - it looks like the shot captures a bit of motion.

I'm gonna agree with nomadkng as well. If anyone thinks that is abstract then they need to look up the definition of the word as it pertains to art (photography is art after all). I think you had an interesting idea but it was poorly executed, either in the capture or the post processing or both (imho).

Agree with what's been said. Moral: Never trust what your family members say about your images.

Not sure if this one a one-time image or not, but if you want some inspiration on how to take horse photos (or any type for that matter) go to 500px.com and just do a search for what ever you want.

I would define abstract as lacking a definitive form or pattern. That isn't the case here except for parts of the background that are too washed out to see clearly. But the horse can be seen without difficulty, so I don't see how this would qualify.

Not abstract, she meant 'Impressionistic' which can be a 'loose, rough, or unfinished looking style of painting. Which can be of Oil, Acrylic, Watercolor, Pastel, etc... You could trace it off on a canvas, lay down some pastel ground and go over it with some Terry Ludwig's and lay in some shadows and highlights..... LOL, I have family that has actually done it... ok I have done it too with fuzzy photos, using them as reference. Although with photography I am trying not to make it impressionistic.

It's not to my taste, but it is kind of fun. If you have it printed about 20 feet wide and hire a good agent, I'm sure you can find someone to buy it. $20,000 would a good starting price. Don't be afraid to add a zero if it doesn't sell quickly.
