Never Play With Matches
Lens: DFA 100mm 1:1 macro Camera: Pentax K-5ii Photo Location: galway ISO: 800 Shutter Speed: 1/60s Aperture: F4.5 

Playing around at home with my macro lens.
I used a sheet of white paper as the backdrop.

That's an interesting shot. Do you have any photos which slightly more of the wood showing - I think that might look a bit more effective.

Yeah, cool idea, but I do agree with the above comment. Right now it looks almost like marbles. I would try a slight tilt (and change the aspect, to maybe 16:9) to show more of the wood, even if it is bokeh blurred.
But the exposure and focus are right on! Very hard to do in such a setup, where DoF is tiny and the background is very bright. Cool shot! .. or rather, hot?

I agree with ausmoose... a little more wood might be nice. Try raising the camera up a little. I also think the photo is a little to warm. Cool it up a bit and increase the oranges and reds to make the match tips pop. If you darken the burnt match, it too will pop.
It's a really cool idea though and is still a great shot.

Would be interesting to get some high fps shots when the center match is lighted up (in a safe environment, of course!)
