Empty wagon at NYC Subway
Lens: DA15 Camera: K-5IIs Photo Location: New York City ISO: 1600 Shutter Speed: 1/60s Aperture: F8

Took this photo during vacations. It was late when returning to the hotel and the empty wagon scared me a bit. I took the photo and changed to the next wagon where there were some souls.

What do you think of the picture? Comments and critics are welcome

I like it. There is an industrial/architectural quality to it and the symmetry works well.

Great Photo!

Hello carriangas,
That's a fine capture, spooky feel and sharply-detailed. Normally I'd expect to see this 'mood' done in B + W but you've made the silvery and shiny surfaces work in color here. Is this HDR? It has that hard-edged/saturated look, but not overdone, considering the context and subject material, imo.
Anyway, good, clean composition and framing, saturation and use of color.

Thnaks for the compliment. I like paying a lot attention to perspective and keeping straight lines straight. But such a wide angle lens makes it a challenge (added to the moving train) so I used some manual lens corrections in Lightroom

Ron, thanks for the kind words. Glad the spooky feel made it across, was aiming for it. To achieve the shiny surfaces I abused clarity slider and played back and forth between highligths and whites sliders looking for a combination that wouldnīt clip the ceiling lights too much. Itīs not HDR, the hard-edged look comes from 100% masking and 3,0 radius when sharpening (I guess).

Thanks again,
Francisco

Great capture and editing with the subtle spooky feel. The shot of orange in the seating, signage above breaks the greys and adds a lot of interest and texture, nice composition!

That is the inside of one of the older trains but since you were on the east side it is not the train I thought it was.
