Tawnyfrog Mouth
Lens: Pentax 18-250SMC Camera: K20d Photo Location: Port Douglas, Qld ISO: 200 Shutter Speed: 1/180s Aperture: F11 

Sorry about the title - me and typing/spelling don't really mix

A Tawny Frogmouth Owl.

This one was inside at The Wildlife Habitat in Port Douglas, Queensland.

Any critique would be appreciated.

Nice shot, Draig! I don't think they're owls, though.

Cool. I've only ever seen them in the Toronto Zoo. I suppose it's tough to get a natural-looking photo with flash. I also suppose that it wasn't possible to get a view of the bird down at its level.

By the way frogmouths (family Podargidae) are related to nightjars (family Caprimulgidae; both families are in the order Caprimulgiformes), not owls (Order Strigiformes).

I never knew that they weren't owls, guess learnt something new today.

Unfortunately at the time I had severe back problems and whilst I could kneel, I couldn't get back up so I couldn't get any lower.
And the Tawny Frogmouth didn't want to get any higher
