Australian Alpine Scene
Lens: Pentax DA* 16-50 mm Camera: Pentax K7 Photo Location: Alpine National Park (Vic, Australia) ISO: 100 Aperture: F16

Hi Guys,

Very long time lurker, but first time poster! I took the shot below a couple of weeks ago in the Alpine National Park (Victoria, Australia) with my K7 and DA* 16-50 mm. Its a 5 image HDR composite, which seemed to turn out ok.

I would really appreciate your thoughts and feedback.

Thanks!

That's a very nicely processed HDR image, of one of favourite parts of Oz. Is that one of the Tawonga huts with Mt Fainter in the background?

It's quite a nice image , However you seem to have blown out on the Highlights in the Clouds in your HDR Blending. you can adjust the shadows and Highlights individually in your HDR program. did you use Nik's HDR for this?

I agree with the rest that it is a well shot and PP'ed photo.

It is HDR but it doesn't make my eyes bleed as often happens when people go way over the top

Welcome to the PF Aaron and what a great shot to open with.
There is nothing quite like the Victorian Alpine Parks
Looking forward to seeing more great pictures from you.

Thanks for the feedback guys I really appreciate it.

I should have given a little bit more information in the initial post! Sandy was correct it's a photo is of Tawonga Huts in the Alpine National Park.
The image was generated through Photomatix Pro and I agree that some of the highlights are overblown; there are a lot of options in Photomatix and I am still coming to grips with them all.

I slept in that hut during a week-long cross-country ski tour in about 1986. I haven't been back since and of course it was covered in snow back then. Funny how it seemed immediately familiar to me.

I must go back sometime.

You're braver than me Sandy for sleeping the huts. I'm happy enough to pitch a tent next to them!
