Cool Bird
Lens: SMC DA 55-300 F4-5.8 Camera: K3 ISO: 100 Shutter Speed: 1/250s Aperture: F5 

Still learning, taking in all the advise I get from these forums and trying to fix all my mistakes. Thanks for all the comments.

Nailing focus on birds like this is tough. Close your aperture down further, don't be afraid of f/11. A bright sunny day like this you can shoot f/11 and 1/250 or faster with no problems. Colors look great, btw.

there's a lot of technical things that might help with images like this in the future such as focus point, single as well as f8-f11 aperture. also calibrating your tele lenses are a must with the k3. finally higher shutter speeds for longer focal lengths help reduce camera shake.

what is very apparent from this photo is that the branches in front of the cardinal is the focus point. how the camera got there is the question. spot focus on the k3 is much better than the old k5's, so that might be a place to start
