Hi!

What do you think about this portrait of my cousins daughter?

It's a nice shot. I might have liked a less busy background though or a tighter composition.

I wont comment on the technical aspects of the photo since I am a newbie myself.

But its nice to know that Punk is alive and well somewhere.

he means less background in the picture, ie: either zooming in (if your using a zoom) or getting closer to the subject. filling more of the frame with the subject.

now i get it. But there is my son in the background, so the framing was intentional.

About the busy background: I would also like less busy background but the shot was made by the way, not during some photo session - unfortunatelly.

Despite the 'busy' background I think it a good study of a girl who obviously has 'attitude', well done.
I think it would look even better if you converted it to B&W.

I really like it...

I agree about the busy background... but I take a lot of these kind of 'shoot when you can' portrait shots. So I am way more forgiving of the background here. You could not have captured a more perfect subtle punk expression, sneerish perfection.
Although subtle punk and perfection should probably never be in the same sentence...

I am a 77-81 punk myself and I have no photos of me from back in the day of the mohawk... the photo critique aside, it is a great capture of a beautiful girl in her moment...

I disagree about the busy background -- I feel like the figures there aid the composition. I like how you're pushing her out of the frame, and I like her *shrug* reaction.

Really nice photo.

I have looked at this shot over and over the past few days. I kind of agree with the background issue is a little busy. With that said i do really like this shot overall. Not everyone is a fan of the selective color but this could tone down the background more if you tried the background in B&W and the girl in color. Just my $.02
