I've been working on capturing mist/fog better. Does anyone have thoughts for improvement there?

Love the shot! I keep thinking you need to work on the contrast a bit, but I'm not sure that would work, especially since I think you are looking for how to improve the shot in-camera and not during post-processing. Have you tried underexposing it slightly using the exposure compensation? I'm interested to see what others with more experience suggest.

Other than making it more dramatic in post, I can't see where you could improve much on this picture maybe set up a bracketed exposure and try HDR but keep it natural. If you did the bracket you could take 5 exposures in 1 stop increments then maybe you'd find one you really liked without going the HDR route.

Very nice composition, I would agree with others on improving contrast to add a little more dramatic effect, i think it would also be interesting to put a ND filter and make a longer exposure to smooth out the river, and maybe take a -1/+1 exposure shots and do a light HDR to get more detail in the trees and the sky (I'm not a fan of overdone HDR).
