I'm really trying to like this photo
Lens: SMC Pentax DA 35mm f2.4 AL Camera: Pentax K-3 Photo Location: Trondheim, Norway ISO: 1600 Shutter Speed: Above 6s Aperture: F8

So out on my christmas eve capers this year, I took this photo (unedited version):

IMGP0238-2

I do sort of like it, with my ghosted face and all, but I find it to be messy with all of the sparker trails, and I can't seem to get the WB right without turning my face magenta or blue. So, I cropped and tried B&W, which is better, but it feels kinda cheap.

IMGP0238

Anyone got any suggestions for improvement? Is it too much of a hopeless case? I really want it to work.

I just played around with crop and saturation in a photo-editor. Maybe try sepia? I like the surreal spiritual feel to the pic. Maybe sepia could add a mystical quality? The person in the lower left seems to be looking up at your giant head in awe like you are a god!

Well the problem with the shot is that the lighting effects seem to be more an affectation rather than an integral element in the frame. Now that you have this trick sorta figured out you need to make it happen artfully.

I honestly like the original crop more, it's a cool documentary shot that tells the story of the trip. It might not win an award or get in National Geographic, but it's the type of image that makes me enjoy photography all the more... Creating cool images that document our lives...

Thanks! I sort of agree, but I also find it to be really busy without the crop.
