Candid or Intrusive ?

When does a candid shot cross the line into an intrusive one ?
Or is there no line ?

When the subject notices you and becomes self-conscious, or objects.

This is a great capture in my opinion.

If people find this offensive, photography is not their hobby.

I loaded the picture into photoshop and tested something. I darkened the bench a bit and added some contrast to the picture and it really popped out of the monitor. I think you should try adding some extra contrast and perhaps add some sharpening selectivly on some details.

as for you question. As long as the guy didn't notice, and abused you, I think it's a great candid...
