In this case I prefer B&W.

Great shot!

I prefer the B&W. The color version doesn't have interesting colors and the bright sky overpowers things on the ground. Your B&W conversion fixes all that.

I am going to be the "odd duck" here and go for the first photograph. True, black & white will never become obsolete, but I really have to love the colors and the composition that you have skillfully used. For me, the colors just work better. Why? Because grass is green, sky is blue, clouds are usually white and rust is, well, rust. Number one just shouts, age and abandonment from a long gone era. Thanks for sharing.

B&W is more eye catching. At least, for me.

I find the B&W the more striking image, but if you prefer the color, then I would suggest cropping along the fence line to remove the tree line on the far left.

Great capture in B&W. Well done!

I am going to be another one swimming against the tide. I am with Tonytee all the way. I live in a world of colour every day. In the old film days before poor colour film became available B&W was all we had and I do not want to go back to that. A nicely balanced colour image does it to me all the time.

I can see where people have an attraction to represent an old building or any other decrepit object in B&W, the reason probably is, if the object is ruined or decrepit then the colour might as well be decrepit also. And old decayed buildings, for example, are more monochrome than colour anyway.

Here, however, we have a very nice scenery where colour should play a major part. The only problem, as I see it, is the washed out sky, change that and you have some sort of a "roof " over the image and it changes everything.

So for me it is colour, Hundertwasser is a good example even though he was a bit over the top and of course he never painted old ruins. (to my knowledge)

Nice picture, well done.

Cheers

Another vote for the timeless appeal of the B&W from me.

Is just about good composition then... without colour distractions.

It's the color for me. I really like the fence. I think it moves you through the picture in the color photo, especially after schraubstock's enhancement. The fence is lost in the grey grass in the b&w.

I refer the b&w version. It is a rich image, and the clouds are a plus in b&w.
Thanks for posting both good versions.
Best wishes.

For me it is also B&W. It has a lot more meaning than color
