Purple Cone Flowers
Lens: 18-135 Camera: K-5IIs Photo Location: Boone Homestead, MO. ISO: 200 Shutter Speed: 1/160s Aperture: F10

Taken in the garden at the home of Daniel Boone's son, where Daniel died in 1820. I liked the way the sun came through an opening in the trees framed the flowers with shadow.

Great to catch them lit by sunbeams! They are such a great native flower, a sunlover, but sometimes growing very thickly in shady openings in or along woods. Easy to grow, too, though a bit spiny to handle when collecting the seeds from the heads.
