Sunset shot I took last week on a road trip through Utah and Arizona. I saw many pictures of the Delicate Arch, but wanted something different than the 99% of shots on google images. Decided on a side angle shooting straight into the setting sun and really like the end result. Getting the people out of the frame was a fun challenge
Let me know what you think and feel free to critique.
Very nice shot !

Very nice as-is. The colored flare does not matter, really, but I gave it a quick healing brush on the little ones - click, click, click :-). I burned in the big light one at bottom left, then tried to even out the edges within the shadow.

Hi,

For me personally - the sky is too HDR-ish.. Perhaps it might look well if you darken it and desaturate it a bit.
One more thing is that the left part of the photo looks a bit empty to me. I will suggest to try cropping the image (maybe a square crop?) and to see where it can get you (just don't loose the shadows from the rocks).

For such an icon, your interpretation stands out! I really like the angle from which you chose to shoot, the boulders, arch and setting sun are in balance. I love seeing how thin the near side of the arch is. Did you consciously place the narrowest part of the arch right at the horizon line? Just wondering what it would look like if your camera was just a little lower... so that the narrowest part of the arch was just above the horizon line?

Of course processing is a matter of personal taste. My humble opinion is that many photos today are too punchy, contrasty, and over saturated. I am an utter newbie regarding post processing - so I'm not able to make any constructive suggestions and it's possible that my monitor is adding to a look of over saturation. Nevertheless, I bet this treatment nicely captures the drama and brilliance you felt in the moment!

I really like this photo - a wonderful, personal interpretation of your experience!

That is an absolutely beautiful photograph! It's very surreal and almost appears as if the light is coming from odd angles. Love it!

I have been here before too and the crowds, contrary to the images we all see, are rather large though generally well mannered. This image is quite nice. I would like to have a little more information about the image, multiple exposures?, HDR?, etc. If this was either, there is a technique that can reduce or eliminate most, if not all of the flare by shooting a couple of additional images and blocking out the sun with your thumb on the additional ones and exposure blending all images in mask layers.

I genuinely like the shot and may try that angle next time. You had the advantage of clouds. When I was in Utah for two weeks I almost never saw a cloud which made for seriously deficient drama for my scenics.

Beautifully done! I love everything about the image.
I like how you deliberately did something different than everyone else. Nice work!
