For such an icon, your interpretation stands out! I really like the angle from which you chose to shoot, the boulders, arch and setting sun are in balance. I love seeing how thin the near side of the arch is. Did you consciously place the narrowest part of the arch right at the horizon line? Just wondering what it would look like if your camera was just a little lower... so that the narrowest part of the arch was just above the horizon line?
Of course processing is a matter of personal taste. My humble opinion is that many photos today are too punchy, contrasty, and over saturated. I am an utter newbie regarding post processing - so I'm not able to make any constructive suggestions and it's possible that my monitor is adding to a look of over saturation. Nevertheless, I bet this treatment nicely captures the drama and brilliance you felt in the moment!
I really like this photo - a wonderful, personal interpretation of your experience!
