Very beautiful, I think you did a great job. And please don't lift the shadows, I think you are right that it would give that bad HDR look that some of us are so tired of
This is perfect, especially with SpecialK's flare removal.

An impeccable yet remarkably fresh-looking shot of a landscape photography icon. Well done.

No pushing is needed. 2 people slipped and fell to their deaths last week, a 3rd in the group was seriously injured.

That's tragic that this could happen at such a major visitor attraction.

Deaths in National Parks happen with some regularity. Visitors are unfamiliar with the unique terrain, medical help is far away, sometimes things still go wrong despite good planning, sometimes people do very stupid things, and the National Parks are supposed to be kept natural and accessible.

A few years ago a group went off trail to illegally soak in the hot springs at Yellowstone National Park. A man slipped into scalding acidic water and died quickly; his body dissolved before it could be recovered.

I don't know enough about the recent 2 deaths plus 1 injury at Delicate Arch to assign blame. I am curious how 3 people all fell at the same time. The way I understood the news they fell into the bowl depression seen in voy-tech's photo and were not climbing the arch. Were they lined up vertically in the bowl, and the person closest to the top slid and knocked the others down? Did 1 person fall, and the other 2 were in such a rush to render aid that they also fell?

I'm curious because knowing what went wrong might help make my own hiking and photography more safe.

.
I've been to delicate arch. This photo sure beats the ones I took. In fact, to my eye, this is the best Delicate Arch photo I've ever seen.

I like it. Flare never bothers me, personally, so I don't mind the spot of green. Nice timing and I like the unique perspective.

That article mentions weather but also says "It wasn’t immediately clear why the three fell." I can fully comprehend 1 person falling, but 3 is what has me wondering. Did all 3 fall at the same exact time? Did 1 fall, leading the other 2 to climb down to try assisting?

I've been fortunate to never encounter a serious wilderness injury. It's something that I do occasionally think about, though. Pretend my wife falls down a moderate slope. It's a small enough fall for me to consider it survivable, but she doesn't respond when I call out. Maybe she was badly cut and by climbing down I can apply a tourniquet to save her life. But, if it's a head injury, there's not much I can do, and the time I waste climbing down delays me getting professional help.

You'll have to ask the sole survivor, but a combination of ice/snow and rain is hideously slippery. It may have been a domino effect, but it's horribly tragic however it happened.

There are useful spiked attachments* you can put on your hiking boots in such conditions, but I prefer to look on these as aids to get out of trouble, not a means to get into it – rather like taking snow chains in the car during winter.

*no, not crampons, snow & ice cleats

Absolutely fantastic shot! Didn't mind the flare at all but after seeing it without the flare I'd probably go flareless.

I've been there several times but not in at least 15 years. I saw the article about the deaths and wondered also how it was possible. In truth, I don't even remember it as being so steep a drop into the bowl that a fall would kill you.

I'd love to get back there -- I consider this and hiking the Zion River Narrows as two of the best hikes in the U.S. -- the first time you round that last bend and see the Arch standing there on the rim is truly stunning.
